Announcing the new theme for Antigravity Magazine!!

Happy December to all!

Today, I introduce a new monthly theme and proudly announce that The Witness Exchange is now an official sponsor for Antigravity Magazine, an excellent New Orleans area rag that features interviews, reviews and more from many of the same artists mentioned here on TWX.
What does this mean? A new monthly theme of mp3s (with the typical micro-comments) will be published to complement the magazine's content and will be published on the day the real thing hits the streets, a companion of sorts to Antigravity. These posts will also be printed in the "mpFree" column of the magazine itself with proper mention of the site.

I will also be archiving all of the music in these posts as it's own streaming psuedo-webstation similar to the existing "stream TWX" feature. This will allow the reader (you) to select individual tracks or listen to them in sequence. As always, please visit the provided link that a file comes from. Like all music on TWX, I cannot guarantee that these songs will always be available or that they will stream due to the nature (?) of the Internet nor can I guarantee that every artist in Antigravity will have a song online that I can pull from. I will "clean" the dead links from the webstation as soon as I notice them.

I am doing this because I strongly support local alternative media and it just so happens that I can get a small bit of promotion for TWX while doing so, there is no payment involved with either party. The Witness Exchange and Antigravity are and will continue to be two seperate sources but will be working together somewhat to bring you the best in (mostly independant) national and local acts... and all because we enjoy doing it. Neither Antigravity or The Witness Exchange is responsible for the content on the others real-world and/or online publication... though if you like one you are sure to like the other :)

If you live in or are coming to the New Orleans area and like what you see in this theme you can find the actual FREE magazine in bars, laundromats, resturants and other dark corners scattered throughout the city. You can also visit the website but keep in mind that it is still being developed.

- Thanks to Leo @ Antigravity

Now, here we go:

Volume 1 / Issue 7

Straight-forward rock and roll from a New Orleans area band by the name of The Band That Fell To Earth. These Tracks are ONLY clips from "Greetings From The Land Of Carbon" EP but seem to be long enough to give a good impression of their sound.

Loud and dirty fuzz from Fu Manchu's latest album "Start the Machine"
fu manchu - "written in stone" mp3 [site]

Rotary Downs is another local band that makes impressive sedative indierock. These tracks are from the self-titled album from '00. These files require Windows Media Player.
rotary downs - "anthemic" [site]
rotary downs - "lick a lie" [site] - my personal fave
rotary downs - "aqua vista" [site]

Stream the latest album "Big As The Sky" from AM60. Catchy, well written pop music. This is NOT downloadable music but a link to their streaming page.

Battles is quickly becoming a new obsession. Funk-laced post rock from the "B" EP. If the names Ian Williams, John Stanier, Tyondi Braxton or Dave Kon mean anything to you...
